The subtle luxurious interior design creates rich visual layers and interests by mixing and matching patterns and textures of various materials. Besides featuring a wide range of gorgeous details, the subtle luxurious interior design also exudes modern beauty and simplicity.   

Structured on a modern and simple form, the designer used a variety of materials such as marble, stainless steel, glass, eco boards, wood veneer, fabrics, SPC flooring, etc. in this project. Through an aesthetic mix-and-match, the unique taste of subtle luxury of the apartment has been achieved. As the homeowner believes in Feng Shui, the designer smartly incorporated Feng Shui elements into the subtle luxurious design. The main entrance of the apartment directly faces to the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room. Such setting is not easy for a home to gather wealth and harmony in terms of Feng Shui. The designer, therefore, tailor made an elegant display cabinet as partition wall using gorgeous materials, such as marble, stainless steel, glass, metal and wood elements, to resolve this problem. In addition, the designer added some copper sheets, copper coins and colored stones in front of the main door upon the homeowner’s request, followed by covering them with a stylish marble flooring in order to attract wealth to the home. Other Feng Shui elements also include adding steel plates into the soft purple fabric headboard in the bedroom, which is not only beautiful but also promotes peace and harmony in the home.  

Having plenty of storage space is another feature of this project. The designer converted two rectangular wooden cabinets in the dining room into curved corner cabinets with more storage spaces, as well as installing a curved corner wine cabinet in front of the kitchen. Avoiding sharp cabinet angles is especially safe for any families with children. More importantly, cabinets with curved corners are visually softer and more comfortable. In order to provide extra storage, a platform flooring was installed in the kid’s room. Being composed of several underneath cabinets, the platform flooring offers lots of storage spaces as well as shortening the distance between the actual floor and the window sill. The designer made good use of this space by creating an extendable desk along the window sill. Such desk design is so convenient and practical by simply pulling the desk out when in use. This extendable desk design can also be found in the piano room. A large wall cabinet was built in the piano room with hidden cabinet doors design which looks like a real wall. The two display cabinets with lighting effects in the middle allow the homeowner to display his favorite models and collections. An extendable desk was built under one of the display cabinets for convenient storage of daily work clothes and accessories.

In fact, managing this project is quite challenging. The homeowner and his family still lived in the apartment during the renovation period. All installation work could only be partially carried out. Some furniture had to be temporarily moved away from the apartment during revocation, meaning additional protection work must be done. What is more, we must strictly control the amount of noise, smoke, dust, odor created during renovation so as to minimize the impact on the homeowner’s family. We also had to do a thorough on-site cleaning before leaving every day. Although extra preparation and work were required, it is worthwhile to design a subtle luxurious residence with good Feng Shui for the homeowner and his family to live a healthy, wealthy and harmonious life.
